Mandala Making with Cheryl Hopper

Portals is a project of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh in conjunction with Fiberart International 2025 and Contemporary Craft’s public art fund. The intention of this project is to connect communities across the world through the accessibility and diverse nature of fiber art. Portals will be displayed at locations throughout the Pittsburgh region, with satellite installations possible at other locations. An augmented reality component will be utilized to bring artists and their works together. The concept for Portals was created by Cheryl Hopper, and she is the lead artist on the project.

Join us for a fun and collaborative session as we help bring the Portals project to life!

DETAILS: You can use KNITTING, WEAVING or CROCHET techniques to make a mandala. Cheryl will offer instruction. Knowledge of crochet is helpful but not necessary. There is NO COST, but please bring a selection of acrylic yarn (leftovers from projects are FINE!). Cheryl has crochet hooks you can use. Cheryl will provide the Hula Hoops! The pieces will be used in the Portals display around the city this summer. Lend your talents as part of a major fiber installation!
